Reorganized Play: Table Size Changes

Your loyal venture-officers and organizers have fallen a bit behind the announcements for a number of reasons. This is the first post in a series that should help you get up to speed on the Organized Play updates!

Although the discussion started as a conversation about how to support high-level Starfinder play without pregens, it ended in a different place: with updated minimum player counts for tables for all three campaigns. (Four, if you count core PFS1!)

The minimum table size for all three programs is now:

  • Two PCs and two pregens, if there are pregenerated characters available, or
  • Three PCs, if there are not pregenerated characters available

The Paizo Blog

These updated minimums should be considered hard mode, especially at higher levels where pregens are not available. It’s worth noting that yes, it’s correct that the blog post didn’t mention Pathfinder 1; the clarification that PFS1 is included in the ruling was made to the assembled corps of Venture-Officers privately, although we’re obviously allowed to share the information.

Note that this is separate from the 6-player maximum that was announced for PFS2–that limit remains in effect. If you need to run a PFS2 table of 7, get in touch with the event organizer.
